Dean Goldfarb Counselling

Sessions & Fees

My fee is £80 for every 50 minute session (including the initial session), whether it be remote (video) or face-to-face sessions.

I ask that my clients pay for every session before the session via bank transfer, which acts a way of confirming your attendance. If you do not have a bank account a cash payment at the beginning of the session is ok. An invoice is available upon request for each session.

All sessions last 50 minutes and occur at the same time every week. Once we have agreed a weekly appointment, I will keep this time available for you every week. Therapy works best when there is a commitment to the work, and regular weekly sessions allow for you to put time aside for yourself and your needs. Weekly sessions also allows time for both of us to process and reflect upon the session.

Your work and life commitments, however, may not allow for weekly sessions at the same time each week, and we can arrange to have sessions at different times or on different days from week to week if a standing regular slot is not possible. If we work in this way, I will need as much notice as possible, and at least 3 days' notice, when scheduling a session so that I can check my availability. In terms of my capacity, I see a maximum of 20 clients each week.

I require five (5) days' notice if you need to cancel a session. If you do not give me the required notice the full fee is still payable as the session time has been reserved for you. If you are unable to attend, rather than miss a session, we can arrange a different time or different day during the same week. Again, as far as possible, I will seek to accommodate you.

It take can several sessions to get to know each other and to development a trusting, therapeutic relationship. As with many things, there is no quick fix and I have clients who I have been working with for a long time. You may find that you talk about something that you did not expect to talk about. I encourage you to consider what the therapy space can be for you, and who you are in the room - this is not from a place of judgment, but from a place of curiosity about yourself, your feelings, the words you use, and how your experience your body in the sessions. If you are considering ending therapy, please raise this with me, as it will allow us both to have a mindful ending that we can process together. This an important part of your therapeutic process and may offer insights as to how you approach other endings in your life and relationships.

I meet my clients in the large reception area, just inside the entrance of Longcroft House, before going up to my therapy room.
